Cotton or knitted cap: which one for which season?

Swiss weather can change within a day: a sunny spring morning, a windy autumn walk, a frosty winter afternoon. The right cap depends less on the calendar than on how cold and windy it is outside.

Cotton caps: light and breathable

Our cotton caps are handmade. Cotton breathes well and feels soft on the skin, which makes it a good choice for mild spring and autumn days, for the pram and for indoor-outdoor days when it is not really cold.

Knitted caps: cosy and warm

Knitted caps hold warmth better and are naturally stretchy, so they sit snugly around the head and ears. They are made from OEKO-TEX® certified material. They are the right choice for chilly autumn days and for winter.

Ear flaps for wind

On windy days, a cap with ear flaps protects the ears, which cool down fastest. Many of our cotton and knitted caps have ear flaps and ties, so they stay in place in the pram or carrier.

A quick rule of thumb

  • Mild and sunny: a light cotton cap.
  • Fresh and windy: a cotton or knitted cap with ear flaps.
  • Cold: a warm knitted cap.

Whatever you choose, check that it is the right size: a cap that is too big slips over the eyes, and one that is too small presses. Our Size Guide helps, and all styles are in All caps.

Care

Please follow the care label on each cap. Gentle washing keeps the shape and colour of both cotton and knitted caps for longer.
